Biffo bemoans Kwara Utd’s poor finishing against MFM

By Akeem Lawal

KWARA United head coach Abdullahi Usman Biffo has again bemoaned the ineptitude of his players to convert their chances to goals in recent matches.

The Harmony Boys produced an awesome performance against Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries (MFM FC) in one of the matchday 7 of the Nigeria Professional Football League which ended goalless at the Agege Stadium on Sunday.

Although Biffo was unhappy with his side’s wastefulness in front of goals, he was however satisfied with a point against the Olukoya Boys.

“I’m a worried coach because when your team is creating chances and you are unable to convert them is a big problem. The same thing happens at home. We always dominate our opponents, but converting has been our problem”, Biffo told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com in a post-match interview.

“So we will keep on working to get it right. Nevertheless, getting a point here in Lagos is a massive result in as much we did not lose. I’m satisfied with the point, but the chances we are missing are something I’m worried about.

“MFM came out to fight but they are not biting in front of goal. They only played at the middle of the pitch and not patient to build from the rear. Any ball, they send it to opponent’s half and when you are playing that way, the goal may not likely come. Because it is when you send the ball up, the opponent will always return it back. The league is a 38 matches-marathon race, they will learn from it as we learn ourselves. We’ll wait and see what will happen in the next few weeks.”

Biffo said the team has learnt from the past mistakes which saw them struggle last season to stay in the league after taking over the top flight slot from Delta Force.

“We struggled last season because of the way we took over the Delta Force who were 19th on the log. So we tried our best to change the standing on the log but we couldn’t do it. Also, the kind of players we had last season are for the National League, so when we took over, we looked for players that can face the challenges of the Premier League and you can see it here yourself. This is how we have been playing home and away but we’ve not been that lucky to get the valuable three points away. I’m very optimistic we are going to get it right very soon,” Biffo told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.

With this draw in Lagos, Kwara United are now occupying sixth position on the NPFL table against MFM, who are on the 11th position. The Harmony Boys will be facing Lobi Stars in their next game on Wednesday in Ilorin, while MFM will travel to Bauchi to keep a date with Wikki Tourists.
