Injured Okpotu vows to return stronger

NIGERIA international and Qatar SC forward, Anthony Okpotu is hoping to recover as soon as possible from his latest injury, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.

 

 

The Super Eagles forward suffered a suspected harmstring injury while challenging for the ball during Qatar SC’s 1-1 draw with Al Duhail in the game week 15 of the Qatar Stars League held at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium, Doha on Tuesday.

 

 

Okpotu was having an impressive performance on his 11th appearace for the club before sustaining the injury and was replaced at half time by Khaled Mansour.


 

 

Even though the level of the injury is not known and the return date not ascertained, the 26 year old shared some pictures while in agony during the match on his Twitter account with the caption, “Football sweet na injury spoil am”.

 

 

Moroccan international, El Mehdi Barrahma gave Qatar the lead via a penalty in the 21st minute of the game but Edmilson Junior leveled up for the visitors in the 51 minute.


 

 

Okpotu and his teammates are fifth on the league table with 24 points from 15 matches, while Al Duhail are second on the log with 28 points, 10 points behind leaders Al Saad.

 

 

Okpotu has scored four goals in the Qatari Premier League since joining the club from Tunisian Ligue one outfit US Monastir last October. The former Lobi Stars forward was star of the campaign in the 2019-2020 Tunisian Ligue One season as he bagged 13 goals to finish as the highest goal scorer for his team and was awarded the most valuable player award for the season.
