American Track League Meet: Okagbare wins first indoor race in 10 years

THE Nigerian Track and Field Queen Blessing Okagbare powered to a Personal Best (PB) of 7.17s in her first 60m final in 10 years to win the American Track League Meet at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas last weekend.

 

Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that the Beijing 2008 long jump silver medallist edged out Jamaica's Christania Williams who equalled her time from the heats with 7.18s.

 

The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist in both 100 and 200m had earlier clocked a quick 7.19s to finish 2nd in the second heat, just behind Jamaica's Christania Williams who ran 7.18s (opener).

 

Also in Sunday’s final, Kayla White pipped Morolake Akinosun to 3rd as they both returned 7.20s, a PB for the former.

 

After winning his heat, Divine Oduduru in his first competition in 2021, clocked a Season's Best (SB) of 6.65s to finish 2nd in the men's 60m final at the American Track League Meet in Arkansas.


He finished behind Trayvon Bromell who set a blistering World Lead (WL) of 6.48s. In 3rd place was Jamaica's Andre Ewers in 6.67s.

In the men’s Shot Put event, African record holder Chukwuebuka Enekwechi opened up his 2021 campaign nicely at the American Track League Meet I where he hurled a Season's Best (SB) of 20.65m.


 

He finished 2nd behind USA’s Ryan Crouser, whose throw of 22.82m broke the indoor World Record (WR). Payton Otterdahl was 3rd with 20.60m.
