NIGERIA international, Ogenyi Onazi has been forced to
seek for a new club after his contract with Trabzonspor was terminated by the Turkish
side, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com understands.
According to reports in Turkish media, the Super Eagles
midfielder has not been able to reclaim a starting shirt in the side despite
recovering from the latest injury setback, prompting the Trabzonspor management’s
decision to terminate his contract.
The 2013 AFCON winning star recently made his first
competitive appearance in over a year after featuring in Trabzonspor’s Europa
League loss against Swiss club, FC Basel in December 2019.
The former Lazio midfielder sustained an Achilles tendon
injury while in action against Caykur Rizespor in a Turkish Super Lig game back
in December 2018 and has since been out of action.
The injury setback saw the 26-year-old miss out of the
bronze-winning Super Eagles squad at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Onazi joined Trabzonspor in 2016 after spending five
years with Lazio, who he joined from Nigerian club, My People.
