NIGERIA international, Ogenyi Onazi has joined another
Turkish side Denzilispor on an 18 month deal after he was released by Trabzonspor.
It was reported on January 3rd that Onazi
was forced to seek for a new club after his contract with Trabzonspor was
terminated by the Turkish side.
According to the report, the Super Eagles midfielder was
not able to reclaim a starting shirt in the side despite recovering from the
latest injury setback, prompting the Trabzonspor management’s decision to
terminate his contract.
Even though the former Lazio midfielder tried to debunk
the story by uploading pictures of his training with Trabzonspor after the new
year break, his movement to another Turkish side however confirmed the
authenticity of the report.
The central midfielder, who joined Trabzonspor in 2016,
scoring seven goals and making four assists in 79 matches, had a contract with the
club until May 2020.
The 27 year old, who joined Denzilispor on a one-and-a-half-year
deal with an option to extend the contract by a year, thanked the fans and
supporters of Trabzonspor in an emotional farewell message posted on his
Instagram page.
“My gratitude and loyalty goes to the wonderful fans of
this great club Trabsonspor, I will never forget the love, respect and passion
you guys have shown me from day one, I already have a special place in my heart
for each and everyone of you. I wish you all happiness because you all deserve
to be happy and good luck for the rest of the season,” he said.
“The year started with BLESSING. Denizli I am here. Let’s
make the difference. I can’t wait for my first game. ⚽️ #gracespeaksforme🙏🏽
#big23,” he sai.
