SUPER Eagles defensive duo,
Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem are still in cloud nine after helping
Leganes to secure an important draw again La Liga giant Atletico Madrid last
weekend.
Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com
reports that the Nigerian centre-backs, who featured for 90
minutes did a fine job in frustrating the likes of Joao Felix, Alvaro
Morata and Saul Niguez from finding the back of the net.
The game was Awaziem’ s 13th
LaLiga game, while Omeruo made his 14th appearance this season.
Awaziem's defensive
contributions saw him make one interception, two clearances and three tackles.
He also won four of seven aerial duels. He was the first man to go into the
referee's book for a foul in the 11th minute.
“Getting all 3 points would
have been perfect, but 1 point is not bad...thank you all for the support
@cdleganes fans...we keep pushing harder in every game to achieve our
objectives,” he posted on his Instagram account.
Omeruo made nine clearances
and tackles, winning three of four aerial challenges. He uploaded an action
picture from the match with a caption, “#VAMOSLEGANES #omeruo.”
However, the hard-fought
away draw did not help the Javier Aguirre’s men out of the relegation zone as they
remained in the 19th position on 15 points, while Atletico Madrid now occupy
the fourth spot on 36 points.
