FORMER U-17 Cup-winning
captain, Kelechi Nwakali is in cloud nine after making the list of 24 invited
players for the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON qualifiers away to
Seychelles on September 7 in Victoria.
Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that the highly-rated Arsenal
youngster, who is on a season-long loan at FC Porto B, impressed Super Eagles
Manager, Gernot Rohr in Nigeria XI friendly loss against Spanish club Atletico
Madrid in Uyo in May, scoring from 35 yards out to leave goalkeeper Oblak
stranded in goal.
The Golden Ball award winner
at the 2015 U-17 World Cup took to his Instagram page immediately after the
list of players was officially announced to express his delight.
“Thank God for my first
super eagles call up #nationalduty #supereagles #workinginfavor,” the 20 year
old said via @nwakali25 on Friday.
Both teams lost their
opening games – Nigeria lost 2-0 at home to South Africa, while Seychelles were
battered 5-1 by hosts Libya.
The Super Eagles, who are
third in Group E after matchday one, are expected to open camp in Seychelles on
September 3, five days before the fixture.
