A 56th minute header by Mohammed
Sani Rabiu was all Kwara United needed to defeat Kogi United in a club friendly
played at the Kwara State Stadium complex in Ilorin on Saturday.
Kogi United team manager,
Ameh Henry had promised to give the Harmony Boys a good match and so it was at the end
of 90 minutes.
Both teams exhibited good
football artistry individually and as a team it is expected that both teams
will use this encounter to correct some wrongs discovered while the game
lasted.
Kwara were the major
culprits as they failed to utilized their numerous scoring chances, while Kogi
United were superb in the cohesiveness and solid defending.
Coach Tunde Abdulrahman who
commended the management of Kwara United for the opportunity to stage the
friendly, noted that his boys have picked much positives from the game despite
the slim defeat which he described as deserved for his former employer.
Gbenga Akinola, Kwara
United's Psychologist said, "If Coach Tunde Abdulrahman boys continue to
play in this manner or better still improve on the attack/attempts at goal and
not that they ostensibly put up their best because they were playing Kwara
United, I am convinced that they will certainly perfect a slot in Nigeria
Professional Football League [NPFL] next season."
