SUNSHINE Stars FC coach Duke Udi believes his side is
capable of securing victory against any team in their remaining fixtures of the
2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
Udi made this
assertion after guiding his team to record their second consecutive away
victory by defeating Rivers United 1-0 in a match day 30 clash at the Yakubu
Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt on Wednesday, thanks to Thompson Ezekiel's second
half goal.
The Owena Waves registered their first away victory since
the former Osun United gaffer took charge of the Ondo State sponsored side with
a 4-2 victory over ABS FC in a match day 28 encounter in Ilorin before
suffering a shocking 0-1 defeat at home to Nasarawa United in Ijebu-Ode last
weekend.
Udi stated that his side has now been conditioned to take on
any side be it home or on the road.
"Our banishment is like a blessing in disguise
because as far as I am concerned we don't have home and that has made us always
be ready to take on any side anywhere, and there has been huge improvement in
the group fitness level," Udi told Sunshine Stars FC Media after the
encounter.
"Moving forward again I want to say nothing has been
secured or lost yet. I don't care about other teams as a matter of fact I wish
them all well. I am just focused on my team and the plan is still to pick as
much as possible points till the end of the season. Three down now 24 more
points to fight for."
Sunshine Stars FC captain, Sunday Abe seems to also
echoed most of his coach's sentiments, saying that, "We are ready to take
on any side be it home or away. On the disallowed goal? We have made up our
mind not to lose focus because of referees' decision. We are to always stay
focus on doing our own job which is, as we can't do be the player and the referee
at the same time," Abe stressed.
Sunshine Stars currently occupying the 15th position on the log will next host 5th placed El-Kanemi Wariors of Maiduguri in one of the NPFL match day 31 fixtures this weekend
