NIGERIA international Joe Aribo in cloud nine after scoring on his full return from injury in Rangers’ 2-0 victory over Livingston in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
The Super Eagles midfielder took to his social media handle to celebrate the victory which ensured Rangers consolidated their lead at the top of the Premiership table after securing 32 points from 12 games.
“Massive 3 points today! Happy to be back on the scoresheet,” he said.
The 24-year-old midfielder was out of action for more than eight weeks after he suffered a muscle injury against St. Johnstone in August, missing Nigeria’s October friendlies against Algeria and Tunisia in Austria.
Aribo, who made a cameo appearance against Celtic and Standard Liege last week, was handed a starting spot by Steven Gerrard on Sunday. The Nigerian did not disappoint as he put the home team ahead in the ninth minute after he was set up Ianis Hagi. Former Tottenham Hotspur star Jermain Defoe then sealed the victory in the 16th minute.
Aribo, who featured for 75 minutes before he was replaced by Scott Arfield, will be expected to take his good form to Rangers’ Europa League tie against Lech Poznan on October 29, and also the AFCON qualifying games against Sierra Leone in November.
