Ebuehi: I want to prove myself at FC Twente

By Akeem Lawal

NIGERIA international, Tyronne Ebuehi has said that he wants to prove himself at FC Twente after joining the Dutch club on loan with an option to buy from Portuguese side, Benfica.

Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that the Dutch top-flight side announced the signing of the Super Eagles right-back on Friday.

“Tyronne Ebuehi will play for FC Twente next season. The 24-year-old defender comes on a rental basis from Benfica. An option to purchase has been included in the lease with the Portuguese club,” the club said on its website.

Speaking with the club media during his unveiling, Ebuehi said he wants to help the club win trophies ahead of the 2020/2021 Eredivisie season which begins on September 12, 2020.

"It feels great to be here at FC Twente,” Ebuehi said.

“The conversations I had with the club were very positive and I look forward to playing here.

“In the past I played against FC Twente with ADO. Twente is a big club and I want to prove myself here, but of course also help the club.”

Ebuehi made the switch from ADO Den Haag to Benfica two seasons ago, but his Portuguese adventure has not been a success due to injuries.

He missed the entire 2018/2019 season after picking up an injury in pre-season. He never made his debut in the main force of Benfica, but he did play six times in the reserves team.

Ebuehi has seven caps for the Nigerian national team. He was also part of the team that went to the 2018 World Cup in Russia where he featured in the 2-0 win against Iceland.
