Tornadoes begin closed-door camping in Kontagora

By Akeem Lawal
NIGER Tornadoes began a week-long closed-door camping in Kontagora on Saturday in preparations for the new Nigeria Professional Football League season 2017/2018.

Head Coach Abubakar Bala informed SportingLife that the choice of camping at the northwestern Niger state is to get the team familiar with grass pitch as they will be playing their home games at the newly renovated Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna.

Bala said the Ikon Allah boys will leave for Kaduna for Shehu Dikko preseason tournament before proceeding to Ilorin, Kwara State to participate in the Gold Cup preseason championship.

“We decided to do our camping in Kontagora because of the facilities. The place has grass, not synthetic and you know the stadium in Minna that we are going to use for our home games next season is also grass.

“We will use the camping to assess the new players we invited. Most of them are here already, we are only expecting two.

“We will next week proceed to Kaduna for the Shehu Dikko preseason tournament from 5th to 12th before going for Gold Cup in Ilorin,” Bala told SportingLife.
