Super Eagles' N50m cheque ready, says Adebutu

Multi-millionaire business mogul, Chief Kensington Adebutu, has said that the cheque for the sum of N50m he promised the Super Eagles after the three-time African champions became the first African country to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup is ready for collection, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.


Adebutu, 82, popularly known as Baba Ijebu is the founder of Premier Lotto Limited, a company that deals in Lotto made this known during the final of the 7th Under 20 Boys and Gils Kensington Adebutu Cup 2017 held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos on Friday.

The Super Eagles beat the Zambian team 1-0 last Saturday in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, thanks to Alex Iwobi’s strike. The win puts them on an unassailable 13 points at the top of Group B.

"The Super Eagles have done very well, when last did we qualify for international competition last, the team is doing well and they should be encouraged and that is exactly what I am doing and I am going to be in Russia to support them more," he said while handing over the dummy cheque to the former Governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Oshoba.

In the final of football tourney sponsored by Kensington Adebukola Adebutu Foundation and organized by the South-West Youth Soccer Association, Aguda Boys defeated First Class FC 2-1 to emerge champions of the boys category, while Lobo Babes beat Gloria FC 2-0 in the third place match. Aguda Boys went home with a giant trophy and the sum of One Million Naira, First Class got N750,000, while Lobo Babes went home with the sum of N500, 000.

In the girls’ category, Victory Babes defeated Royal Girls 1-0 in the final, while Jaiye Queens beat Shooting Queens 3-1 to claim the third place position.
