LAGOS State Football Association (LSFA) has assured of adequate
security during the final of the 2017 edition of the Aiteo Cup billed to hold on Sunday at the Agege Stadium.
Niger Tornadoes FC will take on Akwa United for the right
to be the first team to hoist the glittering AITEO Cup with princely sum of N25
million, while also grabbing Nigeria’s second slot in the 2018 CAF
Confederation Cup competition.
LSFA Board member, Wale Joseph informed Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com that
the association is leaving no stone unturned as regards security as dignitaries
from within and all over the world are expected at the venue.
He revealed that hundreds of policemen, including the Anti-Bomb
squad, Rapid Response Squad, RRS and other agencies will be deployed in and
around the venue of the final to provide protection for football lovers.
“The arrangement is that there will be enough security on
ground. You know it is an important match, being the final and that is why the
security is a priority.
“There will be rapid respond, traffic control and all
other department necessary. Don’t forget that about three governors are coming
and that will also involve the DSS and Bomb Disposal Unit. The bomb disposal
normally comes before the match to comb the venue.
“So I can assure football fans that their lives and
properties are safe at the match venue. They should come around and watch good
football that will be displayed by both teams that are in the final,” he told
