THE finals of the 9th edition of the annual Muniru Muse Under-12 and Under-15 boys and girls football Championship sponsored by representative of Lagos-Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, distinguished Senator Oluremi Tinubu (OON) will hold on Sunday, 18th August at the Campus Mini Stadium, Ajele, Lagos.
Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that the competition organized by the Lagos State Grassroots Soccer Association will see Adu Queens take on Omiyale Queens in the final of the female category by 1pm, while First Class will trade tackles with Bright Star in the male category by 4pm.
Speaking at the trophy presentation held at the Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Secretariat on Wednesday, Chairman Lagos Island East LCDA, Honourable Kamal Bashua Salaudeen, said the competition has continued produce talents for both local and national teams.
"Senator Tinubu is 100 percent committed to the development of Sports at grassroots. For her to be sponsoring this competition in the name of her successor, Senator Muniru Muse, has shown her exemplary leadership,” he said.
Executive Chairman of Apapa Iganmu LCDA, Hon Funmilayo Akande Muhammed, who donated the trophies and represented Senator Tinubu at the occasion, charged all participating teams to eschew the spirit of unprofessional conduct.
“Through sporting activities, one cultivates the right spirit of give and take and cooperation among one’s peers. Enduring friendship are made across ethnic and linguistic barriers thus contributing significantly to the development of our Nigerian nation,” she said.
Winners in each category will be rewarded with the sum of N250, 000, second place will get N150,000, while the third and fourth placed team will go home with N100,000 and N50,000 respectively.
