WORLD CUP: Don’t focus on Argentina, Aghahowa warns Eagles

By Akeem Lawal
FORMER Nigeria international, Julius Aghahowa has urged the Super Eagles not to focus on Argentina but concentrate on the preparations towards the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Nigeria is drawn in group D of alongside Argentina, Croatia and Iceland and will play five tune-up matches in preparations for the world’s showpiece.

Aghahowa made the charge in a chat with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com during the launching of Scratch and Win promo, a product of Big Money Entertainment in collaboration with Kick to Glory aimed at providing opportunities for football fans to win various prizes ranging from N500 to N1million and a jackpot of all expenses paid trip to Russia for the 2018 Fifa World Cup.

“Like I always said, the World Cup is the biggest event when it comes to football. All the teams coming for this World Cup are strong teams, there are no pushovers. So what they need to do is to prepare very well for any team that is coming. I believe they are doing very well at the moment. So lots of friendlies that are being lined up are going to make sure they are in top form. Those players with injuries will be looked into and then the areas we are not so strong, the coach will bring in new players because this is the time to do it. The World Cup is just around the corner. But so far, everything is going well.

“This is the time for the present Super Eagles squad to shake the world and that is why I urge everyone to support the team. That is why people will want to be there. That is why those who want to witness it will buy this scratch card and win and we will see Nigeria colour flying in Brazil.

“Any team coming to the World Cup, Nigeria should prepare like any other team. You should prepare yourself, not focusing on any other country. So let us take it one step at a time. We should not focus on Argentina, or any other team, we should focus on ourselves. Let us prepare very well and be ready. That is just what it takes,” the 36 year old, who made his Super Eagles debut in 2000 and went on to make 32 appearances, scoring 14 goals told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
