THE Nigeria Custom Service (NCS) female volleyball team
will begin their campaign against Injis Volleyball Club of Cameroon on Tuesday in
their opening match in Group D of the 2018 Women's African Volleyball Club

In a draw held on Monday at the Pyramisa Hotel in Cairo with the
President of African Volleyball Confederation, Dr Amr Elwani in attendance, the
Nigeria Customs were pitted in Group D with Kenya Prisons, ASEC Mimosas of
Cameroon, Douanes of Burkina-Faso.
In the group’s other fixtures, the Nigerian side will
have an uphill task when they come up against five-time champions, Kenya
Prisons on Wednesday. The team will then face yet to be named team on Thursday
before taking on ASEC Mimosas of Cameroon on Friday and Douanes of Burkina-Faso
in the last group game on Saturday.
The NCS team consisting of 12 female players and led by
former head coach of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation female coach, Usman Abdullahi arrived
Cairo on Sunday.
”We have been in camp for two weeks and the training
have been very good because the players are responding” Abdullahi told
aclsports.com before the team’s departure.
He noted that the team played friendly matches against
several male teams in Abuja metropolis including the reigning champions.
“The matches helped me select players that would be
featured first and the ones on substitute. This is going to be different than
the African Nations Cup were we could not substitute any player. We are going
with 12 players which is a good sign” he said.
A total of 21 clubs from other African countries are
attending this year’s Africa Volleyball Club Championships which is expected to
end on the 16th of this month.
