US, UK boxers storm Nigeria for International Boxing Carnival

By Our Reporter
Management of Monarch Events and Promotion have declared their readiness to give Nigerian Professional Boxing a big boost beginning with an International Boxing Carnival on April 7, 2018.

Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that boxers from the United States of America, United Kingdom, Nigeria and Ghana are among quality pugilists billed to thrill Nigerian audience on April 7 at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

MD/CEO of Monarch Events and Promotion, Prince Stanley Williams, is emphatic that the likes of Damac ‘Chop Chop’ Corley who lost to Floyd Mayweather in a WBC fight a few years back, alongside Jesus Ortega, Aaron Coley, Paul Valinzuela and Eugene Buchmuller would provide plenty of excitement come April 7.

“Monarch Events and Promotions is about providing the best in entertainment. We have done great boxing promotions in the past six years in the US and UK, but it’s time to revolutionalise the sports in Nigeria.

‘This country has provided quality boxers like late Dick Tiger Ihetu, Nojeen Maiyegun, Obisia Nwankpa, Joe Lasisi, Samuel Peter, Davidson Andeh and lots more. We shall be honouring these special guys on April 7”, began an optimistic Prince Williams.

“A promising Nigerian boxer, King Davidson and Ghanaian Daniel Sowah will also fight for the vacant World Boxing Union Super Middleweight title”, declared Prince Williams who promised better deal for Nigerian boxers and boxing henceforth.

He admitted that boxing facilities, including the Brai Ayonote Boxing Gym at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, supposedly the best in the country are in terrible state, advising that radical provision of quality facilities are needed without further delay.

The World renowned boxing promoter based in the United Kingdom hinted  that  Monarch Events and Promotion would unveil their package very soon while expressing gratitude to the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C), headed by Dr. Rafiu Ladipo.

According to him, both Monarch Events and NBB of C will work hand in hand towards boosting facilities and boxing generally in the country.
