Akabueze: Boluspor still on course for promotion

By Akeem Lawal
FORMER Flying Eagles attacker, Chukwuma Akabueze says Boluspor Kulübü are still in the race for promotion despite suffering a 0-1 home loss to Çaykur Rizespor Kulübü in the Turkish TFF First League last weekend.

The former Kwara United winger was thrown into the fray in the 46th minute as a replacement for İrfan Başaran, as coach Sait Karafırtınalar searches for equalizer after the visitors had taken the lead in the 16th minute, no thanks to Scriamudio Segovia strike.

The loss saw Boluspor on 6th position with 43 points on the league table, nine points behind leaders Rizespor and six points adrift second automatic promotion slot occupied by Ankaragucu.

In a chat with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com after the encounter, Bentley as fondly called, said the team has put the result behind them and are looking forward to their next game against Samsunspor.

“It was really disappointing to lose like that in front of your fans after playing so well throughout the encounter. We will not allow the result to derail our quest for promotion this season. We will continue to fight because we know we are still in the race for promotion slot,” the former Odds BK of Norwar forward told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.

Akabueze was in the Flying Eagles squad who got to the quarterfinals of the 2007 FIFA U20 World Cup in Canada, where they lost 4-0 to a Chile team who lined up Alexis Sanchez, Arturo Vidal and Gary Medel.
