NASK urges karatekas to tap from Sensei Sherry’s experience

THE Nigerian Association of Shotokan Karate (NASK) has called on all Karate practitioners in the country to take advantage of the ‘Train with the Champion’ workshop which will have Senseis Andy Sherry (9th Dan) and Frank Brennan (8th Dan) of the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) as event Instructors, to improve their knowledge of the sport.

Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that the four-day event which is scheduled to hold in Victoria Island, Lagos from the 29th August to the 1st of September, 2017, will draw participants from the 36 states of the Federation, the Federal Capital Territory, Ghana and countries of Francophone West Africa.

Secretary of NASK, John Ogwo, while calling for maximum participation of members in Nigeria and Africa at the seminar, said that the only way to get full value for the money expended in bringing the two experts of the sport to the country “is for all members in Nigeria and the West African region to turn out en masse to benefit from their wealth of Karate experience.”

He stressed that the technical and tactical attributes and high rising profiles of the two British karate instructors have helped to place the British Karate Union at the top of the sport

“NASK took the pain to bring into the country the two top karate instructors from Great Britain in other to contribute to the development of the art in Nigeria and neighbouring countries. These two instructors helped to place Great Britain at the top of the sport.

“Senseis Andy Sherry and Frank Brennan are indisputably two of the world’s finest non-Japanese karate instructors. Sensei Andy Sherry is the current chairman of the KUGB and his protege Sensei Frank Brennan holds the world record as the only man to be World karate grand champion for ten consecutive years. Put another way, he was the best karate sportsman in the world for ten consecutive years, winning everything there was to be won at the world level in all the competitive disciplines of the sport (i.e kata and Kumite),” Ogwo said.
