NNL: Prime coach Afolabi wary of ‘stronger’ Abia Comets

PRIME FC Coach, Shina Afolabi, has told his players to expect a tough encounter when they take on Abia Comets in one of the Nigeria National League Week 8 stand out fixtures at the Oshogbo Township Stadium on Saturday.

Abia Comets won the reverse fixture 2-0 at the Umuahia Township Stadium, with a brace from Obinna Bassey and Afolabi believes his side will even be up against a stronger side than the one they met in the first round.

Records however favour the Omoluabi Giants to beat Comets having won all their previous home games against Comets.

The Oshogbo-based side will be protecting their unbeaten home run and have a chance to return to the top three of the standings on Saturday if they defeat their visitor.

"The second round will be tough. Abia Comets would have changed their team a little bit since the first game we played them and we have to bear that in mind.

"We have to match up and work hard and put in a good performance then we could get turned over again in the second stanza. I think every game we go out in we have to work hard after the way we started. I didn't think we would have performed as badly as we did in the first round but that's football sometimes.

"We have come through that tough time and we're all working hard to post good results in the second round," Afolabi told the club’s media.

Abia Comets gaffer, Victor Nwakama on the other hand, has warned the ‘Believe and Achieve’ gladiators that they will meet an exceptionally gifted side that can cause problems for any football club in the NNL.

Nwakama while speaking with Prime FC Media noted; "There will be a few changes in our team as we have always done and we have huge confidence they will go out and deliver against Prime."

"We always pick a team we believe is good enough to win the game. We've got a really good squad and we've got huge faith in them to get the result."

Prime finished the first round sixth on the log with 9 points, while Abia Comets are placed fifth on the log with 10 points.
