JOF U-13 football tourney final holds Sunday

The final of the second edition of the JOF Under-13 Football Competition will hold on Sunday at the Campus Mini Stadium, Ajele, Lagos Island.


The grassroot football development competition is sponsored by JOF Nigeria Limited and organised by the Lagos State Grassroot Soccer Association.


According to the organizers, the competition which featured 32 teams from different parts of the state wil on knockout format, will see Ayo Babes of Ajeromi take on Junior Arsenal of Alimosho in this year’s final scheduled for 3pm, while Prince Boys of Lekki will however slug it out with AZ Zola Babes of Ijegun in the third place match earlier by 1pm.



To qualify for the final, Ayo Babes defeated Prince Boys of Lekki 2-0, while Junior Arsenal beat AZ Zola Babes of Ijegun 3-1 in the other semi final match.


General Manager-Strategic Support Services, Adeyinka Adetunji, revealed that the winner will be rewarded with a cash prize of N300,000, while the second, third and fourth placed team will go home with the sum of N200,000, N150,000 and N1000,000 respectively.


“We believe that, as corporate social responsibility, our job is to contribute to the development of the youths in the country and we are taking Lagos State as the start of this program. Who knows, it might be a programme that can even grow and extend to a national competition. We want to contribute our quota to the development of the youths in Lagos State. We have so much confidence in the organisers and that is why we are continuing to sponsor the competition on an annual basis,” Adetunji said.


Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Segun Dawodu; Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbajo are among dignitaries invited to grace the closing ceremony of championship with Dr. Olusegun Olugboyegun, the Chairman of JOF Nigeria Limited as the Chief Host.
