Oboabona joins Georgia’s Dinamo Batumi

SUPER Eagles AFCON wining defender, Godfrey Oboabona has joined Georgian top division side, Dinamo Batumi, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.


The 29-year-old said he is delighted and happy to be back on the pitch after few months out, even as he expressed appreciation to his fans and soccer loving Nigerians for their support and prayers especially during the trying period of his career.

Oboabona, who joined Dinamo Batumi after leaving Croatian top division, HNK Gorica, said he is determined to give his best to ensure that his new club do well in the fast approaching season in Georgia.

"I want to give God all the glory because life was so difficult after I left Croatia as I needed to return to action as soon as I could. I want to thank all my fans and Nigerians for their show of love and support.

"I hope to do my best to help FC Dinamo Batumi actualised the set targets while making the fans happy with my performance at all times.

"We are playing in the Europa League and its one of the reasons I came here, I hope to justify the confidence of the coaching crew in me by the grace of God,” the former Sunshine Stars defender said.

The former defender of Rizespor of Turkey promised to give his best to his new club side, while appealing to fans of the Georgia based team to always provide needed support for the team.

Oboabona played every minute of the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa as the Super Eagles won the title in style.

The Georgian league begins on the 29th of this month while Oboabona has featured in friendly games ahead of the new season.
