CAF Awards: Never give up, Adepoju charges Osimhen, Chukwueze

By Akeem Lawal
EX-INTERNATIONAL, Mutiu Adepoju has charged the duo of Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze not to give up but continue to work harder after the Super Eagles stars missed out of the 2019 CAF Young African Player of the Year awards.

Moroccan Achraf Hakimi beats the Nigerian duo to the award in a ceremony held in Egypt on Tuesday.

While reacting to the award via his Twitter handle, Adepoju said both Osimhen and Chukwueze should not be discouraged as the future belongs to both players.

“No Caf Youth Player of the Year, no problem! dear @chukwueze_8  and @victorosimhen9  come on, cheer up because the future belongs to you. Never give up!  #CAFAwards2019,” Adepoju tweeted.

Osimhen and Chukwueze were tipped for the award following their performance for both club and country in the year under review.

Both were instrumental to Nigeria’s third-place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
