A 65th minute strike from Ebuka Okorie was all Royal FC needed to defeat Rachio FC in the final and emerge champions of the 5th edition of the Kazeem Eletu-Odibo Football competition.
The finals played at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos last weekend, also saw Phonix Queens defeated Gasfat Queens 1-0 in the female exhibition match earlier in the day.
The sponsor of the tournament, Prince Kazeem Eletu-Odibo expressed optimism that the competition will continue to help youth showcase their hidden talents, while also empowering them.
“The reason for this tournament is to give our teeming youths the avenue to showcase the enormous talents we have in this country and empower them. We want them to be useful for themselves, the state and the country at large.
“I want to express my appreciation to everyone that came here to support this event. My four blood brothers for the first time were all present here to us love. I am highly grateful to them all,” he said.
The Coordinator of the Eko Youth Sports Association, Lateef Ojora-Ogunfowora said that the competition was organized to promote grassroots football on Lagos Island.
“The competition used to promote peace and love among youths on Lagos Island and its environs. The success recorded this year is all down to the dedication and commitment from the organizers and the sponsor. Prince Kazeem Eletu-Odibo has been able to give his all when it comes to grassroot sports development especially football. He is passionate about this competition.

“So I can beat myself and say that we have done well when it comes to sports development especially football in Lagos State,” Ojora-Ogunfowora said.
Also speaking with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com, High Chief Waheed Eletu-Odibo said the family will continue to give their morale support to the sponsor.
“I came here to support him on this project, he is my brother and I am proud of him. It is not easy to sponsor this kind of competition and I want to give kudos to him for empowering our youths in this area. We will continue to stand behind him.
Alex Capolani, an international French soccer scout also rated the competition as one of the best he has attended in recent time.
“I am happy to be here today. Football is my life and when my friend called me to witness this event, I didn’t hesitate. I want to say that I didn’t regret coming here, it is a wonderful competition. In France, we have Victor Osimhen doing great and I believe we will see lots of Osimhens in this place too,” he said.
Other dignitaries at final also includes Prince Ademola Eletu Odibo, Alh Mudashiru Eletu Odibo, Prince Kate Eletu Odibo, Mrs Omobolanle boss lady, Hon Adesanmi Doherty, Mr Fatai Alaka and host of others.
“So I can beat myself and say that we have done well when it comes to sports development especially football in Lagos State,” Ojora-Ogunfowora said.
