Africa cadet champion, Sunmisola Balogun will today begin
her campaign in the 65kg classs at the ongoing Cadet World Wrestling
Championships in Zagreb, Croatia against Oksana Chudyk of Ukraine,
Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
Balogun and another African champion, Esther Kolawole
(61kg) are representing Nigeria at the event designed for athletes between the
ages of 15 and 17. Both wrestlers who won gold at the 2018 African
Championships in Port Harcourt are guided by experienced head coach of the
female national team, Purity Akuh.
Chudyk is a strong opposition for Balogun, having won
bronze at the 2017 Cadet World Championship in Athens, Greece.
In a chat with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com, Balogun who is
making his international debut said the wrestlers are ready to do the country
proud.
“We have been preparing after the African championship. We
are good to go and we are sure to give out our 100%.
“In God will trust and He is going to do it again. We
want to make our country, NWF and Team Ondo proud,” the Ondo State born athlete
told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
Kolawole will
however begin her quest for glory tomorrow.
This is the first Nigeria will be participating in the
Cadet World Championships since its inception in 1975.
