Nigerians urge Lokosa to take his chances against Congo

By Akeem Lawal
NIGERIAN football fans have urged Nigeria Professional Football League top scorer, Junior Lokosa, to take his chances after being named in the Super Eagles starting eleven against Leopard of Democratic Republic of Congo in an international friendly game scheduled for Monday evening.

A lot of fans took to social media after the official Twitter handle of the Nigeria Football Federation, @thenff uploaded the line-up released by the national team coach, Gernot Rohr hours before the match billed for the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Paul Barnabas ‏ @Paul52449934 said,” Lokosa this is your time to buy your ticket to Russia”, while Odiko Godwin with account ‏ @OdikoGodwin, said,” Lokosa to play out wide. We might not get to see his true quality, given he is a proper no.9. I think Rohr only called him to reward the lad for his heroics in the NPFL and also due to the intense pressure from the Nigerian media. It will take a miracle to see him play in Russia.

While replying @OdikoGodwin, Ayobami Chimezie with account @DacapableAyo, said “You have a very good point there but I feel he could be asked to change position later on in the game. I personally want Junior Lokosa to gate crash Russia because he is in a mould of his own compared to others.”

The Kano Pillars striker, who is on 18 goals is set to partner the duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Crotone forward Simy Nwankwo in the line-up.

The captain of the team, Mikel Obi, who was the last to join the team in camp will not be part of the friendly game with the trio of Joel Obi, Oghenekaro Etebo and Ogenyi Onazi starting in midfield.

Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, will start in goal while he will be getting protection from Leon Balogun, Tyronne Ebuehi, Elderson Echiejile and William Troost-Ekong.
