NIGERIA international, Alex Iwobi joined other Arsenal stars
including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil, Hector Bellerin and Alexandre
Lacazette in unveiling their home kit for the 2018/19 season, with prices
ranging from £55 to £100 for the shirt alone.
Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that Arsenal launched the new look with a promotional video on
their official Twitter account accompanied by the hashtag #WeAreTheArsenal.
Speaking about his experience playing football during his
childhood in the video, Iwobi is presently in Nigeria for the FIFA World Cup
warm up match against DR Congo, said, “Growing up I was playing in the cage and
playing Power League with friends. They gave me the confidence to show what I
can do and if I could do it against older kids then I could do it against
anyone.”
The Super Eagles forward later uploaded pictures on his
Twitter account @alexiwobi with a caption, “New Kit🔥🔥.
Puma are once again behind the design of the kit, as the
shirt includes a 'Beat of the City' emblem across the chest, shirt sleeves and
the socks while alternating between lighter and darker red shades on the torso.
And in another departure from Arsenal's 2017-18 strip,
both the shirt sleeves and socks feature a shaded red band contrasting the
white.
This could be the last year Arsenal don a Puma-designed
kit, who have designed the club’s shirts since 2014, with the club tipped to
seal a new multi-million deal with Adidas for the 2019/20 season onwards.
Arsenal’s current £30m-a-year deal with Puma expires next year.
The authentic match worn shirt will cost £100 with the
replica available for £55. The kits will go on sale from Friday 1 June.
