SUPER Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala has thanked his
former club, Arsenal Ladies and the club fans following her move to top Chinese
Women’s Super League side, Dalian Quanjian.
The Nigeria international became the latest Nigerian
footballer to move to the Far East and follow the footsteps of players like
John Obi Mikel, Chinedu Obasi, Odion Ighalo and John Owoeri, who all signed for
various Chinese clubs in January.
The reigning Africa women player of the year took to her
Twitter handle to express her appreciation to the team despite spending just a
year with the London club.
“Thank you @ArsenalLadies and thanks to all the fans for
your support. I wish you good luck for the future,” the 22 year old tweeted via
@AsisatOshoala.
The former FC Robo forward won the BBC’s Women’s
Footballer of the Year Award in 2015 before joining Arsenal from Liverpool.
The former Rivers Angels striker had joined the club at
the start of the 2016 FA WSL season and made 11 appearances for Arsenal Ladies.
This included the SSE Women’s FA Cup win at Wembley Stadium.
She was part of the Nigerian team which won the African
Women’s Cup of Nations in December.
Arsenal Ladies FC, in a reaction to Oshoala’s departure,
praised the player for her services.
“We would like to thank Asisat for her contribution to
Arsenal Ladies during the 2016 season and wish her well in her upcoming move,
which is subject to the completion of the player registration process,” the
club said on its website.
