TECHNICAL Adviser of Wikki Tourist FC, Mohammed Baba Ganaru says
coaches in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) are being made to
work under serious pressure from club managers and supporters of the teams.
In a chat with SportingLife after his team lost 1-0 to
ABS in one of the NPFL matchday 10 games decided at the Kwara State Stadium
last weekend, Ganaru who spoke against the increasing pressure on the coaches
and players to perform while they operate under a difficult situation of match
fixtures, appealed to club managers and supporters to sympathise with their
situation.
The coach lamented on a situation where club plays series
of matches in a week at different centers, which according to him is stressful.
He said the Bauchi Elephants arrived
Ilorin around 2am on Saturday by road covering a distance of over one thousand
kilometers after their 1-0 victory over 3SC last Wednesday.
“With the
situation we found ourselves, I think the boys tried today. Most of them are complaining
because they did not rest and they just manage to play the game.
"It was a good match. I think we played better in
the first half, and in the second we didn't show more threat to our hosts. But
I give kudos to the boys with how they played, for holding up till the end, and
after making the changes I think we played a little better. Both teams had
their chances but I think ABS were the better side. Every game is always
serious and important for every club, we will return home quickly to prepare
for Rivers United," Ganaru said.
The team however left Ilorin on Monday back to honour a
midweek game against Rivers United on Wednesday.
