Rohr visits injured Ikeme in England

NIGERIA coach Gernot Rohr has visited recuperating Super Eagles goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme in Wolverhampton, England.


The Wolverhampton Wanderers safe hands could not feature for Nigeria in last month’s World Cup qualifier against Algeria after suffering a hip injury days leading up to the clash.

After one month on the sidelines, the Nigeria international returned to action for The Wanderers on December 1 in an English Championship game. The 30 year old was handed a starter’s shirt in their 2-1 victory against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road but was replaced in the 83rd minute with an Achilles problem.

Ikeme who is a touch and go for Saturday’s visit of Fulham uploaded a picture of himself with the Super Eagles handler having dinner together in Uk.

“Great evening and was good to get a visit from 🇳🇬 Coach last night over dinner in Wolverhampton  #supereagles,” he said along with the picture on Thursday.

Meanwhile Wolves boss, Paul Lambert has revealed that Ikeme is feeling better but will wait till last minute before deciding is the goalkeeper will be available for Saturday’s visit of Fulham.

“Carl’s doing all right,” said the head coach. “He’s still feeling it but he’s doing a lot better.
“Whether Saturday is too early I don’t know. We’ll give him up until the last minute,” Lambert said.
