CONFLUENCE Queens Football settled for their
first away win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Adamawa Queens FC in the
rescheduled Week 12 of the Nigeria Women Premier League, (NWPL) decided at the Fufore Stadium on
Sunday.
The grueling encounter saw Confluence Queens take a shocking lead from full-back, Olonilua
Adenike in the second minute of the game via
a well planned free-kick that beat lanky Adamawa Queens' goalkeeper Chioma
Nwonkwo.
Midfielder Ada Ella doubled the lead in the 37th minute
for the Lokoja based club, the goal which completely unsettled their hosts and
resulted to their goalkeeper Chioma Nwonkwo losing consciousness and was
replaced by Nelly Ekeh.
Adamawa Queens could not found their rhythm of
settling into the game till the first half of an interesting encounter was brought
to and end.
Confluence Queens continued to dominate the game with
their mesmerizing style of play at the restart of the second-half, with the
home fans applauding their good football tactics as the visitors make the task more
difficult for the host to fight back.
With just nine minutes to see out the game, Adamawa
Queens reduced the deficit through their best player on the field, Dooshima
Tarnum with an assist from former Confluence Queens midfielder, Stella Nwadike
who came in as substitute.
Tarmum's goal would later stood as consolation as Adamawa
Queens could not break the rock solid defense of their visitors and allowed the
girls of Coach Adewuyi Shola to snatch
all three points, their first ever point against the home side.
With the moral boosting victory in Fufore, Confluence
Queens will be full of confidence going into Wednesday's game at home to FC
Robo of Lagos, having make it two win from two matches in the spate of five
days, and hoping to make it three on a bounce in just under eight days of NWPL
rescheduled matches.
