D’Tigress star Ezinne Kalu making progress in recovery

NIGERIAN basketball player Ezinne Kalu is continuing to make positive progress in her recovery from leg injury, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.

The D’Tigress point guard is facing a six-month spell  on the sidelines having had knee surgery on a MCL/PCL injuries she picked up late last year.

The 29-year-old suffered the MCL (medial collateral ligament) and PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) injuries while on duty for her club Landerneau Bretagne Basket on the 30th of October, 2021.

Kalu posted short videos of herself while undergoing her recovery programs on Facebook Live using a Stepper Machine and crutches on her Facebook Live.

 

She said “Injured leg = Left one. This machine is called the Stepper,” she captioned one of the video slide while using the Stepper Machine.

In another video, Kalu could be seen making efforts to walk while hobbled in on crutches under the watchful eyes of her physio. 

“My focus now has been getting at least 50%. Feels a little weird which is normal but it’s good to feel my knee not buckling,” she said in a slide showing her using two crutches.

While using one crutch to aid her movement in another slide, Kalu revealed that she will do away with crutches once her knee brace arrives in few days.

“One crutch walk! After my knee brace arrives in few days, no more crutches,” she wrote.

Kalu has been ruled out of the Women's World Cup 2022 Qualifying Tournament happening in February but she’s expected to be available should her country secure her place at the FIBA World Cup holding in Australia between 22nd, September and 1st, October, 2022.

Kalu led Nigeria to a historic place in the Quarter-Finals at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in 2018 and in 2019, she was crowned MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket, contributing immensely to D’Tigress’ three straight championships success.
