Ahmed Musa condemns Jos killings

By Akeem Lawal

SUPER Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has condemned Saturday’s attack on commuters in Jos North Local Government Area in Jos, Nigeria, where 23 persons were reportedly killed and 23 injured.

The deceased was travelling from Bauchi to Ikare in Ondo State when they met their untimely death in Jos. Forty of them were still missing.

While describing the incident as heinous and barbaric, Musa, who was born in Jos, called on authorities to take measures in curtailing future occurrence.

”The killings of the innocent travellers that came all the way from Bauchi State after Islamic New year Zikr heading to their various destination and got intercepted at Rukuba Road of Jos North is heinous and barbaric.

“I'm calling on the Government and relevant authorities to take measures in curtailing the future occurrence of such barbaric act. May their souls rest in peace and may peace reign in our dear State and Nigeria as a whole,” he posted on his Instagram page.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria international is delighted to kick-start his season in Turkey with a debut goal to help Fatih Karagumruk secured a 3-2 win over ten-man Gaziantep FK in a Turkish Super Lig matchday 1 tie at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium on Saturday.

The former Leicester City forward, who joined the Black Red on a two-year deal after a short stint with Kano Pillars, scored the third goal in the 90th minute with a fine finish before being replaced three minutes later by Muhammed Egemen Pehlivan.

“A good start, we keep going mates,” he posted on his Twitter account alongside a video of his goal which has already generated over 90 thousand views.
