D’TIGRESS star, Aisha Mohammed Balarabe is optimistic that Nigeria’s female basketball team will once again do the country proud at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that the D’Tigress played a host of grade A Friendlies before heading to Tokyo, winning two and losing four, are grouped with the USA, Japan and France.
“The Nigeria 🇳🇬 Olympia Nightmare is back to the Olympic for the 2nd time, to God be the glory 🙏🙌👏😉❤! Time to deliver and shock the world again. Ameen,” Mohammed, who won the Afrobasket four times with D’Tigress (Mozambique 2003, Nigeria 2005, Mali 2017 and Senegal 2019) twitted on arrival in Tokyo.
According to the latest power ranking compiled by analysts, D’Tigers are rated fourth on the power ranking are hoping for a better outing in Tokyo.
Adaora Elonu and Ezinne Kalu headlined the squad.
Others are Aisha Balarabe, Elizabeth Balogun, Promise Amukamara, Atonye Nyingifa, Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpannah and Ify Ibekwe.
Oderah Chidom, Victoria Macaulay, Erica Ogwumike and Amy Okonkwo complete the Olympics squad.
The first game between team Nigeria and the USA will be played on the 27th of July at exactly 5:40 am Nigerian time.
The second game against the French women’s basketball team will come up three days later, on the 30th of July at 9:20 am Nigerian time.
Depending on the outcome against USA and France in the first two games, D’Tigress could potentially face a do or die affair against host nation Japan on August 2 at 2:00 am Nigerian time.
