Fijabi blames weight disadvantage for first career loss

By Akeem Lawal

NIGERIAN boxer Olaide "Fijaborn" Fijabi has blamed his loss to Montana "Too Pretty" Love in their Welterweight contest on weight disadvantage.

Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that the former African Boxing Union (ABU) light welterweight champion suffered his first loss in his professional boxing career to the American boxer via TKO in Round 2 of schedule 8 Rounds of Welterweight contest at the Hilton Al Habtoor City, Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Saturday night.

Montana has been fighting in the Super Lightweight division and Fijabi believes the weight advantage is one of the strategies used by Team Montana Love against him.

"Not my weight, I am Light-welter your light-heavy understand, I'm a Light-welterweight, you are not a Light-welter.... The weight is too much, I can't really.......," the Nigerian was heard telling his opponent just before the referee declared the winner.

Fijabi last match was at the Ilaji Sports Resort, Ibadan back in December, 2020, when he defeated Moses Dodzi of Ghana in the third round to retain his West African Boxing Union (WABU) belt.
