Nigerian coaches urged to be role models as NLO Berackiah/Abigol Coaching Clinic ends in Bauchi


GIAN Marco, an Italian certified goalkeeper trainer has urged Nigerian coaches to improve the standard of the game through a structural and systemic approach.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Berackiah/Abigol Football Coaching Clinic in Bauchi on Friday, the 27-years-old football instructor stressed the need to prioritize ideals and values in coaching noting that they are ambassadors who should be a good role model to others and reference of modesty.


 

Marco who was one of the resource persons at the programme in his words described the participants at the clinic as farmers who must always ensure the growth of seeds planted by every acceptable means.



 

"Your words are the seed and your players are the soil. You can't see the result immediately because it will take a while, Marco quipped.

 

In his own remarks, the Chairman of Bauchi State Football Association, Patrick Pascal (MON) commended the organisers of the programme for the initiative which he said will improve the standard of the game.

 

A total of 96 coaches from the NLO and grassroot teams participated in the 5-days clinic which was aimed at developing the capacity and improving their competency.

 

With Berackiah/Abigol football coaching clinic now ended in Bauchi, the programme which started in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State in January has now covered all the geo-political zones of the country training 488 football coaches.
