Edo State government has adjusted the school calendar for Second Term 2020/2021 Academic Session ahead of the 20th edition of the National Sports Festival scheduled to take place in Benin City from April 2 to 14, 2021.
A statement
date March 22, 2021 and signed by the Assistant Director (PRS)/HOD Statistics,
Oboh F. Igberaese Benedict for Permanent Secretary and addressed to all CIE’s, Ministry of Education, directed both public and private schools in the state to conduct the second
term examination from 29th March, 2021 to 1st April, 2021.
“I
am directed to respectfully draw your attention to the aforementioned subject
and to inform you of government decision to fast track and ensure the successful
completion of second term 2020/2021 academic session.
“Sequel to Mr. Governor’s acceptance to host the National Sports Festival from 2nd to 14th April, 2021 and due to the influx of athletes and visitors from other states of the federation to Edo State, it has become imperative for both public and private schools to conduct second term examination from 29th March, 2021 to 1st April, 2021 whence all schools will go on vacation for second term.
“As
you will please recall that, cognizant however, of the particular
circumstances, and the distinct nature of the education sub-sector, the
ministry will develop and design a template for third term calendar and same
will be communicated to you in due course,” the statemenmt read.
Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports that 8,000
athletes and officials are expected to participate in the festival in line with
COVID-19 protocols.
