World Cup due to injury, was part of the team that qualified for the 2018 World
Cup in Russia, playing in all of Nigeria’s group games.
In an Instagram chat with comedian, Funny Bone, the
Nigeria international also revealed that he would like to experience the
Champions League.
“The World Cup 2018 was special. It was something I
dreamed of as a boy, to missing it in 2014 through injury, to people saying “I
had lost my chance.
“For the future, I would love to play in another World
Cup with the Super Eagles. I’m in good shape, there are other players coming
through, but let’s see how it goes. I’m turning 32 but I have confidence.
“At club level I’d love to play in the champions league
still. Realistically like to play at the highest possible levels, have great
memories. Right now its survival with Wigan,” Balogun said.
The 31-year-old has missed out on the national team due
to lack of playing time at Premier League side, Brighton and Hove Albions.
However, the former Mainz 05 defender has enjoyed more
game time since moving to Championship side, Wigan on loan in January.
He was subsequently named in Genort Rohr 24- man list to
face Sierra Leone last month for the AFCON 2021 qualifier but the match had to
be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
