NIGERIA captain, John
Mikel Obi has paid tribute to former England and Chelsea captain John Terry
following his retirement from football, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
Mikel joined Terry at
the Stamford Bridge in 2006 and the duo were teammates for 10 years before
winning two Premier League titles, three FA Cups, the League Cup, the Champions
League and Europa League before the Super Eagles captain left for Tianjin TEDA
in China in 2017.
Terry announced his
retirement from professional football at the age of 37 on Monday as he prepares
to move into coaching and Mikel says it was an honour to work and win with the former
England captain, whom he described as a true captain and great leader.
“Oi Georgie mate what
a career you’ve had! It has been an honour to work, win and share good old
banter with you. You are a true Captain and a great Leader, I’m grateful to
have been able to learn from you. Enjoy your retirement old boy 😉and good
luck in all your future endeavours. @johnterry.26,” Mikel said on his Instagram
account mikel_john_obi.
