Reuben credits hard work, dedication for reclaiming African title

NIGERIA wrestler, Hannah Reuben believes her hard work, discipline and dedication were the primary reasons she reclaimed her African title at the just concluded 2018 African Wrestling Championship in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.


The Nigerian Army athlete, who missed out of the 2017 edition of the championship, reclaimed her African crown by beating Emily Mbogo of Kenya by technical superiority (10-0) under 18 seconds in the 65kg final at the Alfred Diete Spiff Sports Complex.

In a chat with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com, Reuben said she is delighted to represent the country once again, even as she promised to continue to give her best whenever she is called upon.


“I feel great, excited and short of words. This gold medal means a lot to me. Immediately I got on the mat, the thought of not making any mistake came to my mind. I thank God for crowning my efforts,” said the Olympian.

“I believe my training, hard work, concentration and discipline were responsible for this achievement. Actually it was tough but all the same I give God all the glory because he made it possible.


“Honestly, I am happy and cannot realy express my feeling right now. I will continue to give my best to make sure I put more effort and attain more feats in my career,” the 2014 Commonwealth bronze medalist told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.

Nigeria finished with 26 gold, 19 silver and 18 bronze medals, Egypt followed with 22 gold, 17 silver and 7 bronze medals, while in third place is Algeria with 16 gold,10 silver and 11 bronze medals.
