Bashir delighted with match-winner against Sunshine

.Shifts focus to El-Kanemi tie

NASARAWA United forward, Abdulrahman Bashir has spoken of his joy to have scored the winning goal that earned his side victory over Sunshine Stars in the Nigeria Professional Football League match day 29 encounter decided at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State on Sunday.

Sunshine Stars who recorded a 4-2 victory over ABS FC  in Ilorin last weekend were also made to taste defeat in front of their fans that came out to support them on their adopted ground after the League Management Company temporary lifted the behind closed doors order on the team's home matches in the 2016/17 NPFL season, no thanks to Bashir's 39th minute strike.

Bashir capitalised on the defensive lapses of the Owena Waves by beating the offside trap to loop past goalkeeper Henry Ayodele to move the Lafia-based outfit to ninth position on the NPFL log with 41 points, 10 points adrift leaders Plateau United.

"I feel good for scoring this goal but most importantly we got all three points at a difficult ground," begins Bashir in a chat with Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com after the encounter.

"At first I wanted to place the ball then I realized that the defender behind me was a little bit far so I kept my cool, took a touch then finished.

"Sunshine Stars played well too and had couple of opportunities and I can see why they were able to beat ABS in Ilorin last week. So we took the game to them because we believe that if they could get an away win, we too could beat them here and thank God we were able to achieve that. Football is game of chances and we took ours.

Nasarawa United's next game is against El-Kanemi Warriors on Wednesday and Bashir is expecting a tough encounter in Lafia.

"We will now shift our focus to the midweek game against El Kanemi Warriors in Lafia. We know it is going to be a tough one but we are ready for that. Every match is important now because we want to finish as high as possible," the former ABS forward told Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com.
