LAGOS FA CUP: 64 teams set for First Round battle

A total number of 64 teams are expected to participate in the first round of this year's edition of the Lagos FA Cup which kicks off on Monday April 3, 2017.

In a release of match fixtures signed by the Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, Bar. Seyi Akinwunmi, a copy made available to SportingLife, the Day One matches billed to hold at the Agege Stadium will see Great Olympic FC trade tackles with Team 360 FC by 7.30 am, while Kakaki FC will face Potters FC by 9.15am.

Rhens FC and Bios FC will take to the pitch by 11.15am, while Omoh FC will slug it out with E-Side FC by 1.15 pm.  The last match of the day will see Depros FC take on Obateru FC by 3.15 pm.

On Tuesday, actions will shift to Onikan Stadium where Esperanza FC will be meeting Amazing Grace FC by 8am, while FC Bethel will take on Topaze FC by 10am.  Synergy Ultimate Strikers will slug it out with Sportom Sporting Club by 1pm and Trinity House FC will play Kedge FC in the last match of the day by 3pm.

The Technical Committee Chairman of the association, Dotun Coker, informed SportingLife of equal level playing ground will be accorded all the participating teams in the first round which is expected to be concluded on Tuesday, 11th March, 2017.

“All is set for this year’s event and I can assure you that the competition is going to be bigger and better than previous ones.

"Lagos FA has been setting the pace in terms of organisation of football competition in the country and this one won't be different.

"We assure each team of equal level playing ground as we hope that the best team will win the competition and represent the state well at the Federations Cup,” he promised.

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Football Club are the defending champions of the competition.
