NIGERIA international Kelechi Iheanacho scored his first Premier League in seven months to help Leicester City defeat Fulham 2-0 at the Craven Cottage on Wednesday night, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.

The Super Eagles striker, whose last Premiership goal was in Leicester’s 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the King Power Stadium back in July, 2020, ended his goal drought by putting the Brendan Rogers side ahead in the 17th minute of the encounter.

The 24-year-old forward, who is behind Jamie Vardy in the pecking order was handed his third Premier League start this season with the England striker spending time on the sidelines.

Iheanacho’s early goal set the Foxes on course to pick up all three points. A beautiful cross from James Maddison made it virtually unmissable for the former Manchester City forward.

Fulham created little before the break but Kaspar Schmeichel had to be alert to tip over a Ola Aina header from a Ademola Lookman corner just before Leicester doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time.

Maddison turned provider again as he played in James Justin to round Alphonse Arrelo and tap Leicester City into a 2-0 edge over Fulham.

Iheanacho has now made 20 appearances across all competitions this season, involving nine starts, scoring four goals and providing four assists.

It was a solid return to form for Leicester after last weekend’s surprise home defeat by Leeds, in which they proved to themselves that they can win tricky games without injured pair Jamie Vardy and Wilfred Ndidi.

A nightmare night for Iheanacho’s compatriot Ola Aina, who was in action for the entire duration of the encounter as Fulham’s run of games without a Premier League win was extended to 11 games.
