LIGUE 1 side FC Nantes have formally activated their €5m
option to purchase Nigerian international attacker Moses Simon from Spanish side
Levante in a deal that will run until June 2024, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
Nantes signed the Super Eagles winger on loan from
Spanish La Liga side Levante last summer and they also have the option to make
the loan deal permanent.
According to Ouest-France, the French side decided to trigger
the option to buy the 24-year-old winger, who struggled to impact in his first
season in Spain but successfully find his form in the French league one. He was
one of his club’s star performers, before the season was ended prematurely due
to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Nigerian who voted
Nantes Player for the month of January scored nine goals and provided another
eight assists in 30 appearances across all competitions for the Yellow Canaries.
Nantes manager Christian
Gourcuff had earlier hinted about the possibility of the club exercising their
option to sign the exciting Super Eagles winger, who has been a target for French
champions Paris Saint-German, Lyon and Rennes in a permanent deal.
“We soon realized that he
would be a good choice. I didn’t know him at first, but his track records and
qualities are great.
“From the moment there was
an option to buy him, we had no doubts. The player himself also said that he
wanted to stay. I don’t know the details, but I never doubted the purchase
option,” Gourcuff told RMC Sports.
