Rainoil Tennis Open: Imeh to face Emmanuel in men’s singles final

.As Aiyegbusi book final date with Quadre

JOSEPH Imeh will take on top seed Sylvester Emmanuel in the final of the men’s singles at the Rainoil Tennis Open Championship scheduled to hold today (Sunday) at the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja.

Imeh produced a powerful performance to beat Emmanuel Idoko 6-0, 6-3 and move into his third straight final.

Sylvester Emmanuel got his revenge for a second round defeat here in 2017 against Chima Michael by claiming a 6-0, 2-0 (rtd) win over his 20th-ranked opponent.
Today’s final between Imeh and Emmanuel will be the second straight national final between the two, with Imeh having prevailed at the Dala Championship in Kano two weeks ago.

4th seeded Christie Agugbom, 37, defeated 2nd seed Aanu Aiyegbusi in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to reach her second straight final in the womens singles.

Agugbom will now come up against Oyinlomo Quadre in today’s final. Quadre again proved too strong for Blessing Samuel, as she defeated the defending champion 6-1, 6-1 to stretch her head-to-head lead over her in 2019 to 2-0.

Samuel got onboard in the 6th game of the opening set to avoid a bagel, and again in the 3rd game of the second set for 1-2. She was however unable to alter the course of the match, with Quadre simply too good.
