FANS of Turkish club,
Trabzonspor are excited following the arrival of former Super Eagles captain,
John Mikel Obi in Istanbul, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com reports.
The videos of the 32-year-old
football star was shared on social media with Trabzonspor fans chanting his
name as he arrived the club house.
The former Nigerian
international signed a two-year deal with the Turkish Super Lig club towards
the end of June, after spending one season with Championship outfit
Middlesbrough.
The former Super Eagles
captain will play alongside two other Nigerian internationals, Ogenyi Onazi and
Anthony Nwakaeme.
The 32-year-old was given an
extended break by Trabzonspor after helping the Super Eagles win bronze at the
2019 AFCON tournament in Egypt.
Mikel was slowed down with
an injury during the tournament and managed to play against Burundi and
Madagascar.
The former Chelsea
midfielder announced his retirement from international duty shortly after the
third-place playoffs against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.
The former Tianjin Teda had
a glittering career with Chelsea winning two Premier League trophies, three FA
Cup, one League Cup, as well as the Champions League and Europa League.
Mikel was also part of the
Stephen Keshi-led squad that won the 2013 AFCON tournament in South Africa.
