Opara, Akuneto, Emiloju set to quit MFM

By Akeem Lawal
MFM FC of Lagos experience trio of captain Opara Austin, Chijoke Akuneto and Julius Emiloju are set to quit the club for other Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) teams, Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com has been informed.

Sportsbiz247.blogspot.com gathered that the trio, whose contracts expired at the end of last season, are yet to negotiate new deals with the club with top clubs waiting on the wings to secure their services.
"Recall last season, more than six regular players were lost to other teams and this new campaign I envisiage same as the Olukoya Boys could lose the services of Opara, Akuneto and Emiloju.

"I can confirm to you that the trio have left the team after the expiration of their contracts. They are yet to sign any new contract with MFM FC as they have been poached by other NPFL teams who perhaps have given them better deals.
"Champions Enyimba have tabled a bid for the experienced centre-back while three other unnamed NPFL teams are drawn in a battle for Akuneto who was the Olukoya Boys top scorer for last season with six goals.

"With Adeniji Kabir Adewole gone for trials, the club is also set to lose experience legs like Jonathan Zikiye and Michael Ohanu.
"The development means the club has to get its recruitment process right this season or it could face relegation."
Meanwhile its not certain if Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, the 'Working One' would be in the dug-out for MFM this season as there was a report of him been linked to the vacant Rangers International of Enugu top job after Gbenga Ogunbote had dumped the Flying Antelopes for Lobi Stars.
