RETIRED Super Eagles
goalkeeper Carl Ikeme made an appearance on the pitch at Molineux with his
children before the game between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester
City which ended 1-1 on Saturday.
The former Nigeria
international was looking well and received a hero's welcome from everyone
inside the ground.
“A great game but this was
undoubtedly the moment of the day. How good was it to see @Carl_Ikeme back at
Molineux?,” the club said via its verified Twitter account @Wolves.
The 32 year old later posted
a picture of his reception on his social media accounts with the message, “Great
day being back @wolves seeing everyone! Big Love Always ❤️🔶◼️”.
Ikeme played for Wolves in
three divisions – the EPL, Championship, and League 1, in a career that started
in 2003.
He retired this summer after
a battle with leukaemia, but is now in full remission.
Ahead of this season, Wolves
announced that they would retire the No 1 shirt in tribute to an amazing servant
of the club.
Current keeper Rui Patricio
wears No 11 as a gesture to the Nigeria international.
