Eco II Rugby Club recorded a
narrow win over Kings College Old Boys (17 – 15) during a keenly contested
encounter played at the Main Bowl of the National Stadium, Surulere, on
Saturday.
KC Old Boys center; Jeremiah
Peters opened the scoring with a well worked try in the seventh minute with
conversion missed.
Kelvin Olisa responded two
minutes later having raced 30 meters to score in the corner.
Winger, Prince Joel crossed
over the white wash again to put KC 10-5 ahead in the 17th minute.
Eco II forward, Kiki Steven
powered over the line in the 25th to keep his team level 10-10 before the
break.
Kelvin scored another try in
the 53rd minutes he converted fly half by John Precious.
Eco II defended well, while
KC forwards gave a good account of themselves in the contest areas leading to a
last gasp try by Jeremiah Peters under the post with missed conversion.
The match ended 17-15 in
favour of Eco II.
Lagos Rugby FC is on bye.

In the second match of the
day, Lagos Police RFC beat Gosar RFC 29-10 in another exciting encounter with
tries from Flanker, Izuchukwu Nwaire, Scrum half, Adeleye Aminu, Ifeanyin
Arinze and Abubakar Tairu.
Felix Salami’s 8 points for
Gosar was not enough to match the men in black.

Racing RFC matched Cowrie’s
attacking prowess in the last match of the day in another pulsating encounter.
Center man; Alfred Oche,
placed Cowries ahead after slotting home a 30 meter penalty.
Cowries led 3-0 at half
time.
In the second half, Racing
upped their game by putting pressure on the Coweies defence line.
Racing got a penalty in the
55th minute and was converted by Monday Omorogieva.
Cowries, however, missed
ample opportunities to take the lead through Azeez Ladipo and Alfred Oche.
Racing held on for to a 3-3
draw in a repeat of last season’s final match.

RUGBY LEAGUE TABLE STANDING
At the end of the five
matches played in the ongoing Lagos Rugby League, defending champions Cowrie
Rugby Fc is still toping Division 1 with 18 points, closely followed by Racing
Rugby Fc with 14 points.
Police Rugby Fc are in 3rd
position with 11 points, while Gosar Rugby Fc is inthe 4th position with 1
point.
In Division 2, Eco II Rugby
Fc is on top of the table with 22 points followed by Lagos Rugby Fc with 8
points.
Kings Collage Old Boys Rugby
Fc is in 3rd position with 5 points, while Kwara Dynamite Rugby Fc is 4th with
no point.
